Greater Lawrence Technical High School received a charter in 1963 and opened in September, 1965.

Students attend from Andover, North Andover, Methuen, and Lawrence.

  • The name was shortened to Greater Lawrence Technical High School.

  • Leo LeMontaigne, a GLTS alumni from Lawrence served on the The Greater Lawrence Technical High School Committee for 38 years when he was outvoted by 18 year old Julia Meija of Lawrence. [1]
  • In 2017, the new two million dollar GLTS football field was re-dedicated to former Superintendent Louis Gleason. [2]
  • In May of 2010, it was announced that John Lavoie, GLTS alumni and former carpentry teacher would take the helm of the regional school as Superintendent. Lavoie had previously been the Superintendent and Curriculum Director at the Greater Lowell Technical High School. [3]
  • In June 2024, GLTS Superintendent John Lavoie defended his $337,000 salary at a budget meeting of the Greater Lawrence Technical School Committee. [4] [5] [6]
  • In 2021, GLTS students completed construction on a Lupine Road duplex built in conjunction with Andover Community Trust. [7] [8]
