The work of Andover illustrator, William H. Foster, (1886 - 1941) was featured in several national magazines including The Saturday Evening Post, Harper's Monthly and Scientific American. [1] He was the editor of two magazines: National Sportsman and Hunting and Fishing and a pioneer in the development of skeet shooting. Later in life he painted bird dogs. The Purina Top Coverdog of the Year Award is presented in his honor. Foster attended the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.

His home at 71 Chestnut Street is listed in the National Register of Historic Places in Andover.
