In 1990 Fred Fitzgerald founded the Andover Fund for Education. The fund is supported with donations from residents, local businesses, and fundraisers. Annual grants of $500 to $1000 are awarded to Andover schools for activities that enhance core curriculum.

Mr. Fitzgerald died on Monday, January 21, 2008. His obituary appears in the Townsman from January 24, 2008.
