There is a town well, known as the Abbot Well, at 38 Andover Street, just north of Phil's Roast Beef.  It is located in a small brick buildingThe entrance is via the driveway between the building and the house next door. Spring water is available for Andover residents.

The well was built circa 1957 with about 400' of pipe.  It was taken out of the public water supply system in 1976.

Author and illustrator of children's books, Munro Leaf lived in Andover from 1955 to 1975. He is best known for The Story of Ferdinand (1936) and his "can be fun" series. He also wrote a long running monthly feature for Ladies Home Journal.
