== Lewis Farm ==
Roger Lewis, owner of the Lewis Farm on Lowell Street, helped to pass legislation stop development of farmland. The Agricultural Restriction Law provided funds for farmers to enable them to continue farming their land and resist the high sums offered by developers. Mr. Lewis did sell some of his land to developers and then bought a farm in South Deerfield where the cost of land was cheaper than in Andover.
The Maddox Farm, located on the Merrimack River, once encompased a huge tract of land but as of October 1999 the Maddox family had sold all but two small parcels. == Nabydoski Farm ==
The Nabydoski Farm, encompassing 40 acres, closed in 2005. The town maintained that because the garbage on the farm attracted seagulls, it was responsible for the high coliform count in the Pinnacle Brook and thus posed a health risk.

After a long battle with the town, Mr Nabydoski sold to developer William Johnson in October of 2004, but held the actual sale for more than a year as Mr. Nabydoski negotiated to continue living on the property after the sale was completed.
== Shattuck Farm ==
The Shattuck Farm, previosly owned and operated by the Abbot family and built in 1718, was an operating farm for 250 years. It encompassed seven distinct Native American sites at what is now 125 River Road. Before it became part of the Andover Industrial Park, an archaeological dig was commissioned. Two reports were published, "An Archaeological Survey and the Documentary History of the Shattuck Farm, Andover, Massachusetts," 1981 and "The Camp in the Bend of the River," by Barbara E. Luedtke.

A restaurant in the main house had served baked beans cooked in an old brick oven and an ice cream stand and country store operated on the site.

The Stattuck farm buildings were moved from the original farm site on River Road to a 12 acre piece of land on High Plain Road owned by Terrence and Patricia Sullivan. The buildings had been sold to Digital Coporation for an industrial park.

Bessie Punchard Goldsmith, a lifelong resident of Andover, was born on November 21, 1882, and died on November 8, 1974. A woman of independent spirit, she was active in the town throughout her life. She was the first woman on the Andover Police Force, a position she held for 25 years; she taught home economics in the Andover school system and was a member of the Andover Guild, Andover Historical Society, Andover Garden Club, November Club, and the Andover Village Improvement Society (AVIS).

The Goldsmith Woodlands is a 130 acre tract of land bordering Foster Pond donated by Bessie to the Town in her will to be used as a wildlife sanctuary. It is maintained by the AVIS Society. The land had been the family farm, although Bessie lived on Elm Street. The chief crop of the farm was hops.

She wrote a column in the Andover Townsman called Townswoman. A collection of these published in The Townswoman's Andover, printing sponsored by the Andover Historical Society. Her papers are archived at the Andover Historical Society.

In 1870 John Smith, owner of Smith and Dove Mill, offered to donate $25,000 to establish a public library providing the town raise an equal sum. The town was able to raise a substantial amount, but was short of the $25,000. They then added funds previously raised to construct a monument to the Civil War to reach the goal. A two story structure was built; the Library on the first floor and the Civil War Memorial on the second floor. At the dedication on May 30, 1873, the saying "Lest We Forget" in honor of Andover's Civil War Veterans was placed above the front door. The second floor Memorial and the saying have remained intact throughout the Library's history.

Memorial Hall has several Civil War artifacts including, an early portrait of Abraham Lincoln by Charles Berry, original material on the anti-slavery movement, artifacts of Andover abolitionists, an authentic anti-slavery banner, a plaque of the declaration of Memorial Day, a sword and funeral rosettes worn by Major Holt, who escorted Lincoln's body in the funeral procession.

The Library became a sub Regional center in the New Eastern Regional Public Library System. In 1997 the Massachusetts Library System went to a Regional System and Andover became the Regional Reference Library of the Northeast Region.

Additions to the original Library

* 1926 - addition of a Children's Room
**The plans for this addition were approved in 1925. The architects were Coolidge and Carlson.
**MHL moved to lower Town Hall during the renovation.
* 1961 - extension of the Children's Room
* 1966 - the Reading Room was extended
** The Reading Room extension was dedicated on November 20, 1966 according to the 1966 Town of Andover Annual Report. The expansion had begun in 1959. In addition to the expanded Reading Room, named for Miriam Putnam, an expanded Children's Room, and outdoor areas were added.
* 1988 - On October 30, a ground breaking ceremony for completion of a rear wing that more than doubled the size of the library: the old section was 20,000 square feet in size; the addition was 30,000 square feet.
* 2013 - new patio completed with tables, chairs, and plantings

A Grand Army of the Republic Flag was donated to Memorial Hall Library in 1928. In 2003 the flag was restored by Camille Myers Breeze of Museum Textile Services with $6000 funds raised by the library for the project. The flag, which dates back to the late 1880's is not a battle flag. The flag is displayed in Memorial Hall.

* 1926 - addition of a Children's Room
**The plans for this addition were approved in 1925. The architects were Coolidge and Carlson.
**MHL moved to lower Town Hall during the renovation.
* 1961 - extension of the Children's Room
