Enterasys Networks is a spinoff of the Cabletron company that was founded by former New Hampshire Governor Craig Benson and his partner Robert Levine. Now under different leadership, the company completed a string of class action law suits in 2005 that had been left behind from Cabletron days. This included a $10.5 million suit against the company and a $50 million suit against the former executives (which was the largest class action suit in New England history).

Also in January of 2005, the company announced that it would need to lay off 115 employees worldwide, 50 of whom would be from Andover. Later in April of 2005, the company announced that it would be laying off 200 employees at an engineering site in Rochester, NH.
