Vernal pools are temporary pools of water that because they are devoid of fish allow for the development of amphibians and insects.

Maps of Andover's vernal pools can be viewed by contacting AVIS.

Guidelines for certification of vernal pools can be obtained through the Massachusetts Department of Fisheries & Wildlife.
