When Dr. Climo lost his job as a psychiatrist, a position he had held for 18 years, he accepted temporary psychiatry jobs around the country. He wrote Psychiatrist on the Road using the stories of the patients he treated during his 4 year trek - of course changing names to protect the privacy of his patients.
