(Not to be confused with Shawsheen School in neighboring Wilmington, Massachusetts) The Shawsheen School is located at 18 Ann's Lane in Andover on land donated from William Wood, President of American Woolen Company.
The school opened in 1924 as a Kindergarten through 5th grade elementary school. The school ceased to operate for a short time beginning in 1980 when it served as school administration offices. The school administration offices moved out of the Shawsheen building and into the former East Junior High School facilities in late 1983.
