In July 2020, Pfizer's Andover facility began mass manufacturing the RNA required for the mRNA vaccine it co-developed with the German pharmaceutical firm, BioNTech. Sold under the brand name Comirnity, the Pfizer BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine production and trials were sped up and scaled up to meet the need for 50 million doses by the end of 2021. [1]
