A major snowstorm hit Andover on town election day in 1969. Snow and a back injury did not prevent former schoolcommitteewoman Barbara Moody from voting. Her husband carried her on a stretcher into polling booth. This was depicted in a front page photo.
Barbara Garey Moody (1932-2015) was a dedicated Andover citizen for 61 years before she passed in April of 2015. She was majorly involved in the town's goings-on and was highly influential on the many town boards she served as a member of. She cared largely about education and youth services as is exemplified by her role as a board member for the Andover Youth Center, the Andover/North Andover YMCA, the Girl Scout Camping Committee and the Andover School Committee. <ref> Mrs. Barbara Moody Obituary.
