Barbara Garey Moody (1932-2015) was a dedicated Andover citizen for 61 years before she passed in April of 2015. She was majorly involved in the town's goings-on and was highly influential on the many town boards she served as a member of. She cared largely about education and youth services as is exemplified by her role as a board member for the Andover Youth Center, the Andover/North Andover YMCA, the Girl Scout Camping Committee and the Andover School Committee. [1] She was so committed to her local community that when a major snowstorm hit Andover on town election day in 1969, neither snow nor back injury would prevent her from voting. Her husband carried her on a stretcher into polling booth, as was depicted in a front page photo of the Lawrence Eagle Tribune.
