On Monday, June 30, 2003, a fire destroyed 17-19 Barnard Street, Andover Livery (a cab company) and Harkins Real Estate & Auctioneers. The building dated back to 1895. Jacob W. Barnard had a shoe shop there with 200 workers. The damaged structure was demolished in December, 2003.
