Pearson Street is named after Eliphalet Pearson (1752 - 1826). Pearson graduated from Harvard College in 1773. He co-founded Phillips Academy in 1778. Pearson also ran a Stevens Street Mill that supplied George Washington's troops with gunpowder. Later in life, Pearson served as acting principal of Harvard College and formed the Andover Theological Seminary.
