The Collins Center was built in 1983 as an auditorium for Andover High School and a center for performing arts. It was named for John Everett Collins known as Andover's Music Man. Andover paid $4.5 million for the 1,250 seat auditorium. The dedication ceremonies featured the Boston Pops with Assistant Conductor Harry Ellis Dickson. Glenn Gulezian managed the Center for seven seasons.
