Several Andover residents were killed at the Battle of Bunker Hill: Samuel Bailey William Haggett Joseph Chandler Philip Abbot
Two Black soldiers from Andover fought in the battle: Philip Abbot who was killed Salem Poor in whose honor a commerative stamp was issued.
