Beginning in 1989, due to overcrowding in schools, the town began to investigate the construction of new school buildings.[1]

In 1999, a final site plan for a new elementary and middle school complex at Cross Street and High Plan Road was finalized. The project was estimated to cost $31 million.[2]

At the 2002 Town Meeting, voters approved an additional $350,000 for the construction project. [3]

In September of 2002, High Plain Elementary officially opened. [4]

The school accommodates around 540 students, spanning from kindergarten to fifth grade. Spread across 48,580 sq. ft., the school features 30 classrooms and shares essential facilities like a kitchen, mechanical room, and a 600-seat auditorium with Wood Hill Middle School. Additionally, it boasts its own health clinic, gymnasium, library, administrative offices, and elevator. This two-story building provides a comprehensive and well-equipped environment for learning and growth.[5]
