In 1968, after the February vacation, students enrolled at Andover Junior High were divided between two new schools: 600 students moved to the new West Junior High on Shawsheen Road, while 623 students remained at the Bartlet Street location, known as East Junior High.[1]

In 1982, the East Junior High School building was converted into office space for town and school administration, but was eventually closed. Students were relocated to the newly renovated Doherty Elementary School, which was reestablished as Doherty Junior High.[2]
