The skate park opened on July 11, 1998 behind West Junior High School. Bill Fahey, Youth Service coordinator, was instrumental in establishing the park. Town Meeting approved $45,000 for a skate park in April 1998. The park's structures accommodate skate boarders and in-line skaters at both beginner and advanced levels. The park is open from mid June and to October.
In 2010, through fundraising and donations, $91,000 was raised for upgrades and maintenance of the park.
