  • Jon Malis first picked up a camera at age six when he won it in a raffle from a local camera store.
  • He took his first formal photography class in high School, then took art classes while at George Washington University.
  • He worked as a photography intern at the Andover Townsman.
  • In 2003 he moved to Washington, D.C.
  • He was the winner of the second annual Camera USA:National Photography

exhibition and Award 2012. One juror praised Malis 2012. One juror praised Malis as a photographer "who, instead of filling in the margins of our history books, is choosing to turn the page and help write a new chapter in photography."
