Since 2009, the Krit Classic, a 5K Run/Walk, has raised money to support an annual scholarship program at Andover High School. The race is named for Kristin "Krit" Kearins, who died in a bicycle accident in Cambridge in 2008. Krit wasn't wearing a helmet. Her family immediately began setting up the scholarship which is awarded to a student-athlete who embodies Kearins' spirit and passion. In 2012, 1475 people participated in the fundraiser.
