Lantern Brunch was a popular diner located at 89 Main Street in the Olde Andover Village. The restaurant was open for seven years before it was bought by new owner and grill man George Dukas in 1976. Before opening the Lantern Brunch, Dukas owned the Andover Spa. Popular with Phillips Academy students and Andover townspeople of all stripes, the Lantern Brunch was known for its unpretentious fare and atmosphere and its cash only service. Occasionally, as an homage to his Greek descent, Dukas would highlight homemade Greek food such as spinach pie on the menu. [1] After forty years of owning the Lantern Brunch, Dukas closed the business in 2016. [2] [3] Dukas however was so committed to his community that he went on to work out his last years at the local Market Basket before passing away on January 23, 2023. [4]
