Corey Tevan
Corey Tevan (1948-1925), born in Portland, ME, was a local artist who lived in Andover for many years. Tevan graduated from Andover High School in 1966 and his art teacher was Francis Dalton. Together with Chris Prendergast, Tevan was voted Most Creative by his classmates. [1] He frequently credited Ms. Dalton with recognizing his artistic gift and encouraging him to paint. [2] He later attended the School of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. From about 1975 to 1980, Tevan worked for Memorial Hall Library as an Interlibrary Loan Assistant and delivery driver. [3] Corey Tevan created the acrylic painting that hangs in the MHL Activity Room, Lion Light. The popular, colorful painting was commissioned by the Library Board of Trustees in 1975. [4] [5] Tevan exhibited his work in the Andover Gallery, Art in the Park on the Boston Common, The Addison Gallery and in his gallery in Rockport, Massachusetts among other places. [6] [7] [8] Corey Tevan is featured in the book Legendary Locals of Andover.
