Frank H. Hardy was a selectmen from 1923-1935. Born in Maine in 1871, Hardy moved to Andover in 1890. He attended the public schools and was a member of the class of 1896 at Phillips Academy. He traveled into Boston for work until coming down with the flu. During his illness he decided to open a brush factory in Andover. The Hardy Brush Company was the largest brush factory in the world by 1927.

Mr. Hardy was active in many local government and other organizations. He was also a member of Andover's "Adventurers Drama Club." Hardy died at the age of 75 in 1946. He is buried in West Parish Cemetery.
