- In 2000 The Simple Sam Band was formed when members Matt Malloy and Vic Lanio, guitarists, Matt Hogan,drummer, and Sam Silverman, bassist,were in middle school together in Andover.
- Their jazz and funk-spiked music is inspired by the sounds of Cake, Incubus, and Rage Against the Machine.
- In March 2005 the Simple Sam Band played with Tom Rush at the Rogers Center.
- In 2005 the band members graduated from Andover High and the band split up.
